About Forbes Park

Formed in 1983 in an area that has been inhabited almost exclusively by wildlife,

the center of Forbes Lake of the Ozarks Park is located 19 miles from

Warsaw, the nearest city. It is 93 miles north of Springfield, 125 miles southeast

of Kansas City, and 223 miles southwest of St. Louis. The state capitol,

Jefferson City, is 100 miles northeast of the Lake. The maximum altitude in

Forbes Lake of the Ozarks Park is 953 feet, with its heavily-forested slopes extending

down to the Lake. The lowest altitude is 659 feet at the water’s edge.

Located in Benton and Camden counties, the 12,800 acres that comprise Forbes Lake of the Ozarks Park consists of over five miles of shoreline on Lake of the Ozarks, three interior lakes that average over 20 acres each, and includes such recreational amenities as boat launching sites, RV Park and picnic areas. Trees of varying sizes are found throughout the area, featuring oak, walnut, hickory, elm and sycamore. Because the topography contains rolling hills, narrow valleys and rugged outcroppings of limestone, there are many excellent views to be had of the three inland lakes, Missouri countryside and of course, the Lake of the Ozarks itself.
